Product of the month

By admin |

This post explains why I don’t follow the “Product of the month” - concept (Maybe that should be of the day?)

See being on a lot of Internet marketing email lists, I see the “this is fantastic” product email coming in every second email. Now are there some good products?- definitely. (next week I get a look over John Reeses Traffic Secrets!)

Are there some not so good- definitely!, and yes some fit in the “not worth paying for” department.

My advice- If can start using, right now….then its for you. If not…think about it for 24 hours and consider it.  I also don’t participate in the “email to sell you something” every day…which is why you haven’t heard much from me for a while. ;)

I like to review a product in detail before I promote it….

Sometimes a lot of products just require more work that the author eludes to. Keep in mind anything is going to take consistent effort- and this is especially true with working with Google…it takes time and a lot of patience!

Now you may have seen the use of Blogs (like this one) to work with your business. One of the best things I did was buy my name, and put a blog on it.

Most Gurus at least agree on this point!

Setting up a blog can be a learning curve- Check out this free service:

http://www.wordpressdirect.com

A good service which can put a blog (and all the Plugin tools you need)  on their site- or you even use it to put a blog on your own hosting. I put Two up in a matter of a few minutes. For a free service its a keeper….

All the best…If there’s anything I can help with…fire away….

    Hi Paul,

I don’t even think anyone took the trouble to read your blog as all they have done is advertise their own products. :-(

I agree with you on the product of the month theory. If something is not directly relevant to what we are doing at the time then we should not be buying it.

I am still reluctant to start my own blog though and am suffering from bloggers guilt because I don’t. I don’t know that anyone would be interested in what I have to say and I also feel that the blog should have a specific theme and I am not sure what to hone in on as the theme.

    Bye for now,

It’s taken me time to learn this.

Nowadays I often don’t buy even things I want.

It’s not about whether I can afford it, it’s about whether I can afford to put serious effort in to the process the product is suggesting.

It’s taken 3 years for me to learn that if I don’t buy product X now, it’ll still be available next month or next year. OR an even better one will be released next month.

There’s an over-abundance of products. If I needed something I’d quickly find it, just when I needed it.

In fact, as I look to my right on the wall I’ve written “It’s what you can download, it’s what you can USE”.

It’s taken years to learn this though. And of course in the past I’ve bought and explored products on every single IM business model out there. So it’s a bit like I’ve played the field but now I’m married to one business model.

    Luke

Ak! I meant: “It’s not what you can download, it’s what you can use”

Yes Paul, I agree. I have bought stuff and have had it sit on the hard drive and when I find it again I wonder what the heck I was thinking of. Very true if you can’t use it now, don’t get it.
